Who We Help
MUM's clients come from zip codes 20902, 20906, 20895, 20896, and 20853. While Montgomery County is one of the most affluent counties in the nation, a large number of the working poor reside in the Aspen Hill (20906) and Wheaton (20902) sections of Silver Spring. Many of our clients are female heads of households with children, persons with disabilities, or elderly persons. The recent economic downturn has also added more unemployed individuals to our client base.
Who We AreWe Are Your Neighbors Mid-County United Ministries (MUM) is an independent agency governed by a working Board of Directors that has provided a safety net for the working poor, the disabled, the elderly on fixed incomes, and in these difficult times, the unemployed, since 1996. We are a member of the Emergency Assistance Coalition, headed by Interfaith Works of Montgomery County.
Our goal is always to treat the people we serve with respect and show that they matter by giving them appropriate assistance. Choice is given to clients whenever possible, particularly in the selection of food.
