Sylvia Correa

Assistant to the Director

Sylvia Correa serves MUM as the assistant to the director, Larry White. This is multifaceted job that requires someone who is detail-oriented. For this, Sylvia fits the bill. In her role, she works directly with people who need MUM services to become clients. She assists the director in all aspects of planning, administration, operations and reporting. She is also responsible for day-to-day project-based financial records of payments, supporting documentation and generating reports that funding sources require. In addition, she maintains databases, works on grants and is involved with training and staffing for events.

Sylvia came to MUM with extensive experience in planning, implementation, management, and oversight of operational and financial activities. She has a track record of proven success in project start-up, organizational and operational disciplines, financial records, project and impact reporting and closeout for a wide range of public, private, non-profit and Non-Governmental organizations. As an added bonus, Sylvia speaks fluent Spanish!

Sylvia’s educational background includes a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from the University of Washington in Seattle. She also studied federal accounting rules and regulations at the Office of Management and Budget, Washington, D.C. She has a long history with advocacy and volunteering. She has lived in the Washington, D. C. area since 1973.

Washington Armstrong

Mobile MUM Team Leader

Washington ArmstrongWashington Armstrong has been an employee with MUM since 2014. He is the Mobile MUM Team Leader. He is responsible for being sure that the MUM Mobile Food Truck has food, volunteers, and shows up at the right location at the right time for our clients. It is important work for those who depend on MUM to help them feed themselves and their families.

In addition to his work with MUM, he is a school crossing guard for the Washington, D.C. government. Professionally, Washington’s is an engineering technician for the D.C. Government. Earlier in his career he was a long-distance bus driver for Greyhound Buses covering a large portion of the east coast.  

Washington is a native Washingtonian. He graduated from Alexander Graham Bell Vocational High School. He has a daughter, a son, and one grandson. He attends Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
