Assistant to the Director
Sylvia Correa serves as the assistant to the MUM director, assisting with planning, administration, operations and reporting. She is responsible for project-based financial records of payments, supporting documentation and reports required by MUM’s funding sources. Sylvia also maintains databases, works on grants and is involved with training and staffing for events. Sylvia speaks fluent Spanish and works directly with MUM clients!
Sylvia came to MUM with extensive experience in planning, implementation, management, and oversight of operational and financial activities with a wide range of public, private, non-profit and non-Governmental organizations.
Sylvia’s holds a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from the University of Washington in Seattle. She also studied federal accounting rules and regulations at the Office of Management and Budget, Washington, D.C. She has a long history with advocacy and volunteering. She has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 1973.
Mobile MUM Team Leader
Washington Armstrong has been an employee with MUM since 2014. He is the Mobile MUM Team Leader. He is responsible for being sure that the MUM Mobile Food Truck has food, volunteers, and shows up at the right location at the right time for our clients. It is important work for those who depend on MUM to help them feed themselves and their families.
In addition to his work with MUM, he is a school crossing guard for the Washington, D.C. government. Professionally, Washington’s is an engineering technician for the D.C. Government. Earlier in his career he was a long-distance bus driver for Greyhound Buses covering a large portion of the east coast.
Washington is a native Washingtonian. He graduated from Alexander Graham Bell Vocational High School. He has a daughter, a son, and one grandson. He attends Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
