Heading into 2024 with MUM

Frozen Star Berries

Happy New Year! As we begin 2024, we appreciate your support of MUM – which is vital to our work in the community! Thanks to all those who gave so generously in 2023! As we’ve shared before, we continue to see record numbers of neighbors applying for emergency financial assistance and seeking food at our office and mobile food pantries. Your support is vital to helping MUM meet their needs and refer them to other services and benefits. Read more about these challenges, and about the impact MUM is able to make thanks to your support!

Please be Generous this Giving Season!

MUM appreciates the support from all our donors and volunteers – support that is very much needed right now! In 2023 to date, MUM has seen nearly 6,000 visits for food assistance, prevented the evictions of 36 households, and helped 50 clients restore or prevent the disconnection of their utilities. To continue this work, MUM must raise even more funds, and our Board of Directors is matching year-end donations up to $10,000. Read more about our work, our new Program Manager, and our year-end donation match, and take a survey relevant to your role as a donor, volunteer, and/or client to help MUM continue to help provide for neighbors in need.

MUM Heads into Summertime!

Stamp Out Hunger Donations Basket

May has been a very busy month for MUM! Facing the reality of having less food and funding as pandemic-era programs end, we have made the difficult decision to reduce the number of mobile food pantries we operate for the next few months, while evaluating our programming, seeking stakeholder input, and developing a strategic plan. Of course, our work doesn’t stop, and we continue to rely on donations of food, time and money to continue our operations. In May, for instance, we had a successful Stamp Out Hunger campaign and are grateful for the support of long-time supporter May Nakamura, who asked for donations to MUM to help celebrate her 103rd birthday! We look forward to your continued support during the Summer months!

Support MUM through Stamp Out Hunger

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation week, I want to thank the many volunteers who give their time and talents to MUM! We truly could not have supported the nearly 750 households we provided food to in March without so many wonderful volunteers. MUM’s dedicated volunteers show up in all kinds of weather and do whatever we ask of them.
