Behind the Headlines – Our Neighbors are Still Suffering

Your Donation Matters. Give Today!

This is the last week of MUM’s Non-Event Fundraising Campaign, and we still have a way to go to reach our goal of $25,000 by this Saturday, October 20! Please help MUM help our clients—your neighbors—right here in Montgomery Count.

Your generous financial contributions go directly to providing food, housing and utility assistance, and vital medical and prescription assistance for individuals and working families who struggle to make ends meet.

When we help our neighbors who have less, WE ALL benefit as a community. Often in today’s media and social environment we are led to believe that everything is fine. Unemployment is at an all-time low, the stock market is setting records. But behind those headlines are different realities of people who may not have the skills to make more than minimum wage, people working multiple jobs or part time just to pay for the basic necessities. Our clients often work at jobs that don’t provide healthcare insurance. They don’t have retirement accounts and the luxury of seeing their investments grow. They don’t have savings, job security or the expectation of an annual cost-of-living pay raise. Yet they are hardworking family people who clean our homes, do our gardening and landscaping, and build our homes even when they can’t afford homes of their own. Many have come from unimaginable circumstances in hope of having the bare essentials for themselves, their children, and their families.

Every contribution makes a difference. YOUR contribution matters to people you might see right here in our neighborhoods on any given day.
