The leaves are turning color in earnest, the days and nights are chillier, and Thanksgiving will be upon us on the 25th of this month. There is much to be thankful for – but unfortunately many of our neighbors continue to need our support as we approach the holidays and the winter to come, and we’re still in the grip of COVID-19 stresses!

As always, MUM appreciates all gifts from our donors, which allow us to provide much needed food to many neighbors in need. Please continue to remember MUM through this season!

And remember that Giving Tuesday this year falls on Tuesday, November 30. Giving Tuesday is described as a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world,” and claims that “everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts.” That’s certainly true at MUM, where every donation made helps neighbors right here in our community!

MUM has been fortunate throughout the pandemic. Thanks to your support, we’ve continued to serve hungry neighbors through our mobile pantry program, and visits for food assistance continue to exceed levels prior to COVID. Our mobile pantry operates on the first through fourth Sundays each month, from 2 till 4 pm (see schedule English | Spanish).

As announced last month, our third Sunday mobile pantry site is now Wheaton Veterans Park. The Park is around the corner from our previous location, and sits on the corner of Fern Street, Reedie Drive, and Amherst Avenue. Our first Sunday at the new location was October 17; the next will be November 21. Thanks again to Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando and the Wheaton Urban District for their support in securing this new location for MUM!

MUM’s office is open by appointment for those needing assistance with eviction, utilities, and prescription drug purchase. To seek help, you can make an appointment by contacting the MUM office by telephone at 301-929-8675, by fax at 301-929-8234, or by email at office@mumhelp.org.
