Lots of MUM News in May!

Stamp Out Hunger on May 14!
MUM will once again benefit from the local Stamp Out Hunger food drive on May 14, 2022! For 30 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive, collecting non-perishable food donations along postal routes. The drive was cancelled in 2020, went online in 2021 due to COVID, and returns in person this year, and we need your help! Here’s what to do –
(1) NOW – Sign up here through Sign-Up Genius to help MUM to collect, sort, and transport donations between 4 and 9 pm!
(2) ON MAY 14 – leave nonperishable donations for pick up on your doorstep in the blue plastic bag provided by your letter carrier. See what’s needed here!
(3) ON MAY 14 – help MUM to collect, sort, and transport donations at the time you signed up for through Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!
Stamp Out Hunger is a big effort and has provided much-needed food for MUM to provide to our neighbors in the past. The need for food has continued to grow as prices increase and many Covid-19 relief measures end. Please join us on May 14 and help us to Stamp Out Hunger here in Montgomery County!
Welcome and Thanks!
MUM is delighted to announce that our new Executive Director, Dayna Brown, is now on board and has hit the ground running! Welcome to Dayna, who you’ll hear more about in coming weeks!
As announced here in December, our previous Executive Director, Dewey Reeves, left MUM in December to spend more time with his family. Dewey joined MUM in 2020 and led MUM through a complicated time, and we thank him for his many contributions!
What we haven’t yet offered thanks for are the efforts of our interim Executive Director. Andrew Arai is a long-time mobile pantry volunteer who stepped in and managed MUM during this interim period and continues to assist as Dayna transitions into her new role.
Looking Forward to More Events!

As more in-person events fill our calendars, please mark yours for the Taste Of Wheaton on Sunday, June 12 from 11am to 5pm in the Marian Fryer Town Plaza. Come out and support MUM and other local businesses and non-profits. More information here: Taste of Wheaton 2022
Thanks to Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church!

Thanks so much to Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church (cedarlane.org), which hosted a concert to benefit MUM on April 24. Over $1,000 was raised to help MUM help our neighbors in need! Part of Cedar Lane’s Spring 2022 Series, the concert featured the Cedar Lane Vocal Trio, Dr. Shuai Wang and Dr. Jasmin Lee on piano, and Elliot Beck and Eric Plewinski on percussion. If you missed this great concert, you can see it on YouTube – Benefit Concert at Cedar Lane – YouTube.
