Please Continue to Support MUM through the Fall!

MUM Food Pantry

Special Ways to Help Those Who Continue to Struggle in September

While life is returning to normal for some people, many in our community continue to experience food insecurity and financial difficulties from the effects of the covid-pandemic and rising costs of living in Montgomery County. MUM continues to serve 150-200 families each week at our Sunday Mobile Food Pantries. Inflation is affecting many in our community and we are also seeing a lot more clients come in for assistance to prevent evictions and utility shut-offs and for help paying for prescription drugs.

Labor Day Food Drive at Safeway

On Labor Day – Monday, September 5, 2022 – the Safeway in Kensington will host a food drive to benefit MUM! Representatives from MUM will be collecting food donations outside the Safeway from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. If you’re interested in volunteering please sign up here. As always, your contributions of non-perishable items will help to feed neighbors in need. Get a reminder of what items are needed here.

Giant Bloomin’ 4 Good

MUM has been selected to receive $1 from every Bloomin’ 4 Good bouquet sold during the month of September 2022 at the Giant Food located at 2900 University Blvd. West in Wheaton! Be sure to pick up a bouquet whenever you shop and support MUM while you beautify your surroundings!

MUM Needs Volunteers!

MUM can always use volunteers to help at our Sunday Mobile Food Pantry sites, in our office (office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm), at food drives, and at our food storage location. See how you can help here. Support neighbors in need by calling during office hours at 301-929-8675 to volunteer!

Reminder: Changes to Mobile Pantry Schedule

We continue to serve neighbors in need on the first, second, and fourth Sunday of every month, as well as in our office. See our Mobile Pantry locations and schedule (English | Español).

Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to prep the food for Sundays, in the office food pantry or at any of the Sunday Mobile Food Pantries.
