No one should have to choose between food and medicine. MUM can provide prescription assistance in emergency situations.
Emergency Prescription Drug Assistance
Often people on limited incomes must decide whether to use their money to pay for prescriptions, pay the rent, utilities, or buy food for their families. MUM can help clients get needed prescriptions in urgent, short-term situations. We can then refer clients to community agencies for long-term prescription needs. MUM gives financial assistance including seeking additional funding from other public agencies, to help those who cannot afford to pay for their prescription medications.
Appointment Required:
MUM offers financial assistance to individuals prescription drug assistance by appointment only. Please review the requirements to apply for this program. If you meet all the requirements listed below, please call our office at 301-929-8675 on Tuesday - Thursday from 9am - 4pm or use this form to make an appointment.
Qualifications for Emergency Prescription assistance:
- You must live in one of these zip codes: 20853, 20895, 20896, 20901, 20902, 20906, 20910, and 20912
- You must show proof of Identity (ID or passport)
- You must show proof of Income for 6 months for all people in the household over the age of 18, such as Pay stubs, Letter from employer, Offer Letter for new employment, Social Security Benefits Letter, Disability Benefits letter or Unemployment Benefits letter, HOC voucher, etc.
- You must provide the written prescription
Note: Emergency Financial assistance, for any service, is limited to once every 12 months and three times in a lifetime.
